My friend Aminah and I stumbled into Veselka, a 24-hour Ukranian diner, one late night a couple weeks ago, and a fabulous rainbow-sprinkled cupcake on display made me sit down. I was fully prepared to be disappointed, not knowing how long it’s been inside its chilly abode. But the vanilla treat was light and perfect with a cup of peppermint Twinings tea.
Cupcake, $1.75; Herbal tea, $1.50

I love the perogies and potato pancakes at Velselka. So worth the half hour wait on weekends!
ok now this just looks beyond delightful… one more place to add to my neverending list of must-visits. thanks for the tip, keep em coming!
I definitely have to try the perogies and pancakes, Marie. I had no idea they were known for that, and the wait is that long?? I actually have a post coming up about that 🙂
