Simple hair flip

I’m just a tad handicapped when I do hair, so I get really excited when I try something new and it kinda works — however easy it may be. This falls under that category.

My aunt was running out the door to catch her flight to Málaga, Spain, and she quickly asked me to find something to do to her hair. Yeah, in my head I was thinking, You sure you want me to do this? Plus her hair is actually always amazing: thick, straight, shiny but very short, so I had five seconds to figure out what to do as she’s rushing out the door (oh and did I mention she owns like four beauty salons? Pressure much?). I just grabbed the nearest straightener which was this mini-travel one below.

It has 1″ plates and is from Plugged In (definitely can’t find this specific model anywhere, so it should serve as evidence for how long I’ve had it). I only saw items from the company on Sally Beauty Supply’s website here. Anyway, I quickly just began straightening her hair and doing a little outward flip at the end. It was so easy, I almost cried. Okay not really, but she looked good walking out the door.

I tried to re-enact it below, but keep in mind you need a thin straightening iron to do the flip, and if your hair is already curly, you would definitely need to straighten it first with a more heavy-duty thicker plate (1 1/2″) straightener (sorry curly-haired friends). I personally think this looks super cute with shorter hair, but I’m sure it would complement layers just as well.

And the grand finale!

As you can tell, I’m all about the simple things. What do you think?
