Was reading NYLON‘s July issue this morning (which, by the way, is one you should def pick up), and saw a fun article on Leyla Safai, the frontwoman of electro/punk/thrash band heartsrevolution. The half-Egyptian beauty tells the mag about she came about her now trademark pink eye mask made of Kryolan Day Glo Aquacolor in UV Pink, $14, saying it started from a case of stage fright.

“With the band of color on, she says, ‘I feel like no one can see me.’… ‘I don’t really wear makeup, aside from when we play.'”

And it looks like the color pink seems to always find her. The article notes that when she and bandmate, Ben Pollack, relocated from LA to the LES, they moved into what used to be The Velvet Underground‘s old headquarters where everything “happened to be pink.”

“Now we live in a pink bubble. Everything is pink, my underwear, even the f**** phone.”

And get this, Leyla got her start by starting an ice cream truck company, Heartschallenger in LA, Miami, and NY, which is (surprise surprise) a pink truck that comes not only with ice cream and candy goodies from all over the world, but also with more pink merch, like totes and ski masks. Sounds lovely and delicious.
