Jennifer Fleming beauty tip: shadows first!

OK, full disclosure, I met a lot of wonderful makeup and hair people today at an event downtown. Texas-native and makeup guru, Jennifer Fleming, was one of them and talking with her was such a treat!

One of the things I noticed she did was my eye makeup (consisting mostly of soft plum shadows) before she did anything on my face.

I asked her about it, since I usually do my concealer first. She advised to do eye shadows and makeup before concealer and foundation since if any of the shadows falls under your eyes, it’s easier to clean and cover than putting everything on and trying to fix it after the fact.

Duly noted.

Of course, I flinched a little when she whipped out the eye curler, but she swears by Shu Uemura’s. She paused after she did one eye, and was beaming at how much of a difference it made. She took out a mirror for to see, and OK I have to say, it did make a huge difference (even before any mascara was applied!). I really need to get over my curler angst.

I still haven’t gotten around to purchasing a curler at all, but I think it somehow gives a little more lift — definitely a lot better than the drugstore ones. It’s funny because recently I felt like I should have a curler and if I do, I’d get one of theirs. Just don’t trust the Revlon one after the horror stories like so: https://beautyandthefeastblog.com/?p=482
