Kebobs galore at Ravagh, Persian grill

Yesterday, we celebrated my friend’s birthday at Ravagh, a Persian restaurant in midtown. Pretty much everyone ordered a kebob plate, the restaurant’s specialty.

I got the Chicken Strip Kebob ($14). I don’t know why I always go for this, forgetting that I have ordered it previously and I actually don’t love it. It’s a little too dry, even though I tried to douse it in white sauce and Sumak spices. The food there is REALLY filling, which I think Persian food that I’ve had tends to be. I only ate half of my plate and I was stuffed.

Most of my friends like the Sultani Kebob though ($19). I think if you’re going here, you can probably skip the chicken and go right to the lamb.

Still wouldn’t say it’s my favorite place, but it’s a pretty, bi-leveled, low-key restaurant. [sidenote: You know what beats it out big time? Reza’s in Chi town! Yeah, that’s right.].

We had some hummus appetizers ($5), an entree, soda, and hot tea afterwards which ended up to about $21 a person. Plus, they let us serve our own ice cream cakes and put up with our obnoxious 20-some person strong group, so I give them credit for that :).

  1. I ate here at the end of last summer and loved the lamb…I can’t say I tried the chicken. At most Persian places I tend to order lamb, just because I feel like it’s a specialty and the chicken you can usually get other places. And I love Reza’s…was in the Chi in May, and we had my cousin’s graduation party there.
