I’m breaking out and it sucks.

prodlg_00530240Ok so I don’t know what happened, but all of a sudden my skin is all off-kilter and I’m noticing little breakouts around my chin and cheek. Could be all the constant running around, could (very likely) be lack of sleep. Or my skin is getting back at me for neglect.

Whatever it is, it’s annoying.

I have this kit from Philosophy that’s just been lying around, called the Urgent Kit for Breakouts that has the Purity face wash, an oxygen peel, and On A Clear Day moisturizer that I began using last night. I literally found out today that they don’t sell it anymore as a kit, but if this works, I’m pledging my life to Philosophy.

And OK, truthfully, I really love the brand either way. They have awesome products, beautiful scents, creative names, and the loveliest packaging. I also have been using their amazing tangerine-scented Begin Again shower gel ($20) that also triples as a shampoo or bubble bath. Amazing.

So yeah, anyway, this was just my FYI/oversharing post of sorts. Carry on now.

  1. Ok, so I’m not the only one breaking out then? That’s good to know, because I was starting to worry. I’m experiencing the same thing, random mini breakouts on my chin/lower cheeks…

I love Philosophy products, but the dermatologist prescribed me some gels to try out.

How is Proactiv? Does that actually work?

no you are definitely not alone. grumble.

Proactiv is pretty good. Just a bit too much of a routine commitment for me, and it adds up — and it seems to work in cycles. It works, but it dries out my skin too much sometimes, so I love these philosophy products right now. It’s soo hydrating and gentle, but still feels so clean.

proactiv is all hype.. it doesn’t work well. my dermatologist recently told me that the first thing she was told in aestician (however it’s spelled) school is that proactiv does not work!

My personal experience with proactiv – it might work for people who get silly little breakouts that come and go. and this is only because of the cleaning regime. but for any serious damage control, it is a joke.

Proactive did not work for my daughter. She has sensitive skin and it made her face red and did not help with acne. She started using the Citrus Clear organic products about two months ago, and her skin has gradually improved month over month. My husband uses Citrus Clear as well for his adult acne, and they both rave about Citrus Clear. After trying so many other acne products unsuccessfully including Proactiv + , it was relief to find something that actually works.
