Where in the world…

July 30, 2009

Will make this short and sweet.

My list of what I’ve been doing besides blogging:

– Traveling. Well, mini-trips that shouldn’t really be a huge excuse, but I’m always slow when I travel.
– Planning more trips.
– Moving in and moving out of places. Another long story.
– Running. Trying to keep up with my running schedule.
– Working. I’ve been putting BATF above my real work most days, so I need to kind of re-prioritize.

But good news is this is the last post of excuses (hopefully for a while!); so thank you for the email nudges….I’ll get back on it now!

The sweet stuff in Canada

July 27, 2009

Hi all,

Sorry for the slow start. JetBlue decided they wanted to cancel our flight, and we ended up driving back to NYC. Needless to say, my brain needed some time to start working today. But all is good!

First of all, can I just tell you how much I loved our view of Niagara Falls from our hotel room at the Sheraton on the Falls?

Our view!

Our view!

Though, the first thing we did wasn’t actually going to see the Falls. Instead, we got Honey Crullers from Tim Hortons.

This was decidedly marked as the main sugary treat for the rest of the trip. They weren’t my favorite doughnuts, but I have to say, their coffee (more specifically their iced ones) were REALLY good. Next time, I’d go straight for their cappuccino.

When we eventually made our way towards the Maid of the Mist boat for our torrential ride through the waterfalls, my friend Miral escaped for a minute to get some blue raspberry flavored ice shavings. I never knew her love for pretty ice treats until this trip.

Later, we stopped at The Fudge Factory candy store where I stole some bites of an M&M brownie from my friend. It was more fun to look at than eat to be real.

Andddd this is where I ended up the next morning…

It wasn’t all that rough.

Yaaay for the weekend!!!

I’m sorry again for the sluggish week, but I promise you’ll have something great to look forward to next week!!

I picked this song because it’s my sister-in-law’s current obsession and I miss her, and I miss FRANCE. And that’s how the story goes :)

Yelle – Ce Jeu

And with that, I’m off to Canada for the weekend. Anyone else with fun weekend plans?

Cheeseburger slider from New York Burger Co.

July 23, 2009

Mini Cheeseburger, $3

Mini Cheeseburger, $3

I stopped by New York Burger Co. on a random walk, and decided to go for a slider to just get a taste…I mean, they were so cheap, they start at $2.75, and $3 for the cheeseburger. The menu also says they use all natural angus beef, and was voted best burger by NYC AOL City Guide 2007. I got a cheeseburger with swiss.

I don’t know how appetizing this looks to you guys, but I come bearing bad news: it wasn’t all that.

It didn’t really taste like anything to be honest. Good news is, Shake Shack is right around the corner!

Beauty - "The Lovely" - Hair

I got two compliments in one week on my hair, and I think I finally know why

I’ve had some jam packed days recently. It’s just work, run, eat, and maybe sleep.

The last thing I’ve been minding is my hair (which also probably explains why I’m weeks overdue for a haircut). So, I was kind of surprised when earlier this week a co-worker complimented my hair while we were in a meeting. That kind of made my day because I swear I was having a really bad hair day. Just earlier that day, I was so frustrated getting ready for work and not knowing what to do with it. Then today after work, I was in the elevator with this other older guy. He suddenly turns to me and says, “So tell me, what’s your hair secret?” I laughed nervously and asked what he meant. “You’re hair…it’s so full and nice.” Awkward. I’ve seen him around the building before and knew he wasn’t a creepster, but still.

I started to scan my brain for what I was doing different, since any compliment like that seemed kind of out of the ordinary.

So now, I finally figured my new bath products might be somewhat responsible: Tigi Catwalk Headshot Heavenly Hydrating Shampoo and Reconstructive Conditioner.

I’ve been using the combo for a couple weeks, and though I personally didn’t notice anything extraordinary, maybe some other people did. It’s a moisturizing formula with rose hips and ginseng extracts, and wheat protein for shine.

I have also been going longer between shampoos and have been avoiding the hair dryer while I can since it’s so warm outside, so that might also be part of it.

Yeah, so that’s my story.
