‘Tis the season to be…oily.

(OK, I know that would go better for Christmas post, but who’s oily during the winter months??)

Every summer, my skin goes crazy. I spend more energy combating pimples than mosquitos. Thankfully, I found these portable wipes by Dickinson’s.

Dickinson's Witch Hazel Towelettes, $4.50
Dickinson's Witch Hazel Towelettes, $4.50

They are soaked in Dickinson’s trademark witch hazel and individually wrapped for single usage. The aloe/witch hazel combination is gentle on the skin, inexpensive (under $5), and the convenient, easy-to-carry packaging makes this a summer staple.

Admittedly, I get the same satisfaction wiping away oil and city grime that I did when I tried Biore’s blackhead-grabbing pore strips (unlike with my Biore addiction, however, I am able to use these in public places). The next time you are packed like a sweaty sardine on a subway car with no air conditioning, you should bust out one of these ingenious little towelettes to keep your face cool, clean and pimple-free.

Now, if only we could do something about the straphangers who don’t wear deodorant.

Available at CVS, Duane Reade, C.O. Bigelow, and Drugstore.com

  2. Love this idea. I’m one of those people who carries one too many things in my purse, including but not limited to makeup, hand sanitizer, hand lotion, moisturizer, compact mirrors, pocket-size perfume. I just might have to add to that list after reading this post…sigh. I used to get so mad at my mom for not being able to rummage through her purse to find the car keys, and now I have definitely become that person.

It sounds refreshing!! If you wear makeup, I’d suggest those oil blotters…I carry one around from Boscia, and it’s a life saver.

That is a great find! I use Witch Hazel as my daily toner with a bit of Tea Tree in it. Then Aloe Vera, Jojoba Oil and a bit more of Tea Tree depending on the amount of pimples. It is great for break outs and blemishes.

I have oily skin. But when I use wipes, my skin gets really dry. Do these wipes make your skin dry?
