Rodeo Grill: Tex-Mex in Murray Hill

My frands were in the mood for some southern grub and basically any place that served fried chicken and mashed potatoes would do, so we went to the honky tonk Rodeo Bar and Grill. It’s a loud bi-level restaurant in Murray Hill that plays live music everyday (though can’t say we were there late enough to hear if the band was any good!).

I love the straight out of Texas woody decor. They served us nachos and watery salsa when we sat down. I was just hoping the subpar salsa wouldn’t be a precursor to the food, but the Chicken Chimichanga plate I ordered was actually REALLY good.

(OK and please Don’t kill me, but I’m delivering phone pics again — this time they’re iPhone pictures my friend helped me out with so they should be a tad better!)

It was two stuffed tortillas with chicken, fried and crunchy, topped with sour cream, guacamole, and slice tomatoes and served with a side of black beans and rice.

My friends were not crazy about the Chicken Fried Chicken plate they got, which was battered chicken breast topped with gravy…they said they were expecting something juicier. These were not all that greasy even though it sounded like it would have been!

I had a taste of the burger which I thought was OK but my friend said he liked it!

It was just a fun place to try. I don’t think I would have thought of visiting it on my own, but I loved my dish so yaay for fatty food cravings :).

PS. I’m already anticipating my mom’s frantic phone calls that I’m going to get high cholesterol if I continue this…I promise this is not an everyday occurrence!

  4. That looks so good, especially since I’m sitting on a bus en route to NYC as we speak and have been on here for 4.5 hours. I actually haven’t had much Tex-Mex in NYC. Any other recommendations?
