High tea is an early evening meal, typically eaten between 5pm and 6pm in the evening…It would usually consist of cold meats, eggs or fish, cakes and sandwiches. In a family, it tends to be less formal and is an informal snack (featuring sandwiches, biscuits, pastry, fruit and the like) or else it is the main evening meal.
So looks like we did it super family style last weekend at Kings’ Carriage House in the UES for my friend’s bridal shower. The place itself is like an old English style townhouse, formally dressed up with elegant wallpapered bathrooms, delicate antique decor, and like the room we ate in, mural-painted walls.
We had cold sandwiches of cucumber with chive butter and chopped egg and watercress served with fresh strawberries; and a choice of goat cheese with mango and tomato or salmon tartlettes. Everyone also got a scone with cream and jam spread.
Dessert was a choice of bite-sized poppy seed cakes, raspberry mousse gateaux, baby eclaires, lemon curd squares, or shortbread cookies. They served all with our choice of English Breakfast or Chamomile tea in beautiful China teapots.
And check out the cute favors our wonderful hostesses gave us: a tea bag of vanilla chai or english breakfast with a chai and earl grey chocolate from Jacques Torres!
I felt so posh.

I love your site and have been following for some time. But since I started using a Acer netbook I have problems looking at your site on my browser. Is there a possibility you could create a smaller version for us readers using netbooks?
Hmm strange! Site loads fine on iPhones so would assume it would on all laptops!!
