Beauty - "The Lovely" - Lips - Product Review

Fuchsia lipstick that actually works with my skin tone

November 24, 2009

For my birthday last year, one of my favorite gifts were these J. Crew magenta-colored leather gloves from my lovely friend, Rahela:

I love this color so much, ever since I got them, I’ve been inspired to go on a hunt for a perfect fuchsia/magenta colored lipstick that doesn’t look horrible on darker skin tones.

Alas, finally found the one, and it’s from none other than Lime Crime’s makeup line, which I featured previously here.

They sent me a few lip colors to try, and I was so excited when I saw that their Centrifuchsia matched the gloves perfectly!

I tried it out, and it’s such a beautiful dark pink without the blue undertones that usually clashes with darker complexions. And, not to mention, one that doesn’t channel the old school auntie look (you know what I’m talking about). It’s really pigmented with just a little bit of shine. So in love.

I usually don’t wear bold lip colors, but this one is so pretty and fun. Me thinks it’s perfect for changing it up this season.

Centrifuchsia ($16) is available at

FOOD - "The Delicious"

Leggo My Eggo — no, seriously…

waffleSome news that will probably put college kids and failed cooks alike into a frenzy: Kellogg Co. has announced a nationwide shortage of their popular frozen waffles until next summer.

Apparently the company’s Atlanta plant had been shut down due to heavier-than-normal rainfall, and other factories are in the midst of repairs.

News spread like wildfire this week when enough shoppers had tweeted that they couldn’t find their beloved breakfast food.

Time to stock up?

Couple gets arrested for not tipping

Next time you’re thinking of leaving a restaurant without tipping, just remember you can get arrested…sort of.

A couple were arrested in Philly for refusing to pay a mandatory 18% gratuity of their $73 bill at a local because they said the service was lousy.

Tipping — such a sensitive issue. I guess every penny counts even more so in this case because they were college students.

I just tip the bare minimum when the service sucks and make a mental note to avoid that restaurant and tell others to if it was REALLY bad.

How do you handle poor service?

What are your 5 MOST used makeup items?

My fellow makeup junkie, Hana, and I were commiserating over how many YouTube makeup videos and tutorials are way too long. So, she took matters into her own hand and made her very first makeup video about her five most worn makeup items….check it out:

SO cute!

OK, so here are mine (and probably not surprising, almost all which I’ve done posts on before!):

1) theBalm timeBalm Concealer in medium/dark – great texture, stays put, and amazing color match for me at least!

2) Motives Pressed Blush in So Peachy – I used this for the first time in my Italy trip and it’s my new love. It’s highly pigmented so a little goes a long way, and brightens better than a bronzer so you look more awake.

3) Koh Gen Do’s Maifanshi Natural Lighting Powder – Perfect finishing powder, it’s light and sets makeup beautifully.

4) Clinique Brush-On Cream Liner in True Black – Love this liner. It stays put and never runs, especially great to use on your waterline.

5) C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Shine – One of the first lip glosses I found that won’t dry out my lips. It’s moisturizing, smells fresh and minty, and gives a nice shine without going overboard.

What are you fab five makeup products?

PS Being sick sucks…sorry if my posts are coming up slower than normal this week!
