Yesterday, after feeling like a super tourist from spending the day at the Salar Jung museum and the beautiful Chowmahalla Palace, we took a food break at Ohri’s food court for chaat.
Chaat is a small snack that’s a mix of potatoes, fried crispy dough, onions, coriander, topped with yogurt, green chilies, sweet tamarind sauce, and chutney.
I got the samosa chaat, which is basically all the ingredients above plus chunks of samosa. Really good and REALLY spicy.
My cousin ordered the laccha tokri, a crispy shell containing the same thing minus the samosa.
Though, I think the paneer chilla is my favorite. Paneer is a type of cottage cheese that’s spiced up here with red chili, coriander, and tumeric; tossed in with green peas and onions; fried and finally placed inside a soft chilla pancake. Really spicy and just tasted heavenly. sigh.
And isn’t this wonderful….food plates here are between 25 to 50 rupees…or about .50 cents to $1.
I went back to Ohri’s for dessert the next day…to be continued….

I need to remember to stop reading your blog when I am hungry for lunch
make sure you’re careful about what you order at ohris. their milk based products are infamous for making people sick. my brother got food poisoning on the night of his mehndi π
side note, how gorgeous is chowmahalla…love the chandeliers, too bad they don’t let people get married INSIDE the palace.
I might be immune thankfully… had their ice cream too π
