Beauty tip of the day: How to look fresh and awake

January 11, 2010

Rise and shine!

Excessive traveling, working long hours, late nights — we know how it goes. Here are some tips for “tired face” damage control :

Keep eye drops handy. Try Visine or Rohto.

Avoid black liners and dark eye shadows. Instead, opt for a navy blue liner — it will brighten the whites of your eyes.

Mix a drop of eye cream with a yellow-based concealer. Apply below your eye area to hide dark circles and create light reflection.

Wear a bright pink or peach blush. A cream formula will keep skin looking dewy.

Go for glossy lips. It will keep your lips hydrated and brighten up your look.

Concealer: Laura Mercier’s Secret Camaflauge, or MAC makes good stick concealers too…for eye cream, I’m liking Olay’s Regenerist line, and hear good things about Clinique’s All about Eyes.

Oooh I’ve been wanting to try Olay’s regenerist line!

My latest favorite eye cream is Mario Badescu’s hyaluronic eye cream http://www.mariobadescu.com/hyaluronic-eye-cream ($18 at Nordstrom, not bad compared to others I’ve tried). I just started using Kiehl’s eye alert, but I don’t know if it’s good yet, has anyone tried it?

Lancome waterproof concealer is pretty good… Sephora sells it.

Note, Olay’s Regenerist and Clinique All about eyes won the 2009 Glammy’s for best eye creme, (drug store and department store, respectively). I did a bunch of searching and finally decided to get All About Eyes. Will let you know how it works :)

Anyways I love bare minerals, and I’ve heard their “Well Rested” shadow/concealer works wonders when applied right onto freshly applied eyecream. Someone try that and let me know 😛
