Lip Gloss Confessional: The “Other” Man

By Tina Chaudhary

If there’s one thing all of us need, it’s having “the one” right by our side…I’m talking lip gloss. For me, that means one that’s easy to apply, easy to remove, not sticky, and finishes my look. Plain and simple.

And once we have that gloss, managing it is practically a project in and of itself: Where did I put it? I hope I didn’t leave it in the car in the heat. Did I remember to put it in my coat pocket before the party? Is it almost finished? Should I buy another one? Is it time to reapply? Should I dump this color for a new one? Ah…the neurosis of it all.

It’s not abnormal to fall in love with our favorite lip gloss and begin somewhat of an illustrious affair. We stash it in our purses, indulge in it a few too many times during the day, even when we don’t need it. Sometimes, we find ourselves minding our gloss more than our men. Admit it, you too, are having an affair with your lip gloss: instead of going in for the kiss, you decide it’s better not to — you don’t want to reapply, let alone think of the amount that will go to waste when he steals some from your lips. You even sacrifice a peck on the cheek, telling him instead, “I’m wearing lip gloss.”

I’d like to introduce you to my other man: NARS Greek Holiday

I guess I have a thing for Greeks. If you’ve been thinking about dumping your current affair, consider this one — because in this case, I don’t mind sharing my man with you.

What’s your current lip gloss fling?

  1. I love this. Lip gloss is definitely my essential product, too. I need it with me at all times. I feel like I can get away with not wearing any make-up, but if I don’t have lip gloss, I feel incomplete.

My current is Estee Lauder Pure Color Crystal: Light Copper. It’s a really nice neutral shade and not too heavy.

Just got a Black Honey Lipgloss sample in a gift set from clinique. In the bottle it looks way too dark but its got a kind of brown/raisiny tone that I love and its buildable, a little goes a long way to make lips look deliciously juicy

I have tried Black Honey before. It’s a great shade! Now, I am more drawn to nude/clear shades to wear alone or over lipstick. Can’t tell you which is a favorite of mine since I keep trying different ones at the same time. One that stands out right now is the Ultra Mentha Lip Shine from Bath and Body Works. Shiny lips and yummy smell and taste! Glad someone finally captured our lip gloss obsession in writing 🙂

I’m currently into LipFusion glosses — I got a gift set of 6 shades from Spa Boutique and I love that it’s a more visible color than most glosses AND it plumps without hurting
