As you guys can probably gather from my past posts, I’m somewhat of a mascara fiend. I have different ones for different occasions and will analyze and over-analyze them to a point of exhaustion on their varying subtleties.
One of my favorites is Dior’s DiorShow Blackout Mascara. Dior makes some fabulous ones, including their original DiorShow (my only gripe about that one is the wand is so thick that I have on occasion totally poked myself with it…not fun). The other thing is the price tag ($24), and some can argue that since you should be replacing yours often (every 2-3 months depending on how much you use) it’s pretty economical to go with a great drugstore brand.
I’ve been hearing people raving about CoverGirl LashBlast ($8), and the company sent me over one to try. It was one of those quick falling in love things. The plastic bristles prevented clumping, it extended and fattened without making me look like a tarantula, and it didn’t have a messy removal. I’ve had people even ask me if I was wearing fake eyelashes when I used it…sweeeet.
I still thought DiorShow’s was great too but after seeing the CG ads that this one is actually comparable to DiorShow (and for $16 less!), I decided to put it to the test with a little help from my sister-in-law.
We applied LashBlast on one eye, and DiorShow’s Blackout on the other. Here’s a blind test — which one do you think looks better?
Could you tell that one was a drugstore, and the other was a luxury brand?
Exhibit A was DiorShow’s and Exhibit B was CoverGirl. I thought they looked pretty comparable, and have since been using LashBlast. What do you think?
