Beauty on the Streets: Samia M. Grand-Pierre

Samia M. Grand-Pierre

Name: Samia M. Grand-Pierre

Age: Love to have you guess?

Occupation: Freelance Stylist/ Visual Merchandiser/Brand Mgr./ Blogger

Location: NYC by way of Montreal and Haiti

Website: Co-editor of www.HighSnobette.com

“Growing up in Canada and in Haiti I have been blessed with the outlook of growing up in two radically opposite countries. Being able to see and experience both has been a blessing that I believe thought me a lot on life and the value of people of in general.”

My style is: ever changing, hard to pin down but I do wear a lot of black.

My favorite designer right now is: Manish Arora — he ‘s just amazing season after season.

People usually compliment my: Obsessive ability to wear as much jewelry as I can all at once.

My favorite makeup tip: Mixing a drop of foundation with a face cream. It’s like a custom tinted moisturizer

Current beauty product obsession: genuine argan oil from Morocco it works miracles on skin and hair while not being oily.

But I also can’t live without: Kiehl’s Crème de Corps for winter dry skin. I dare to say it’s the best. Worth every penny.

My favorite scent right now is: It’s a tie between Guerlain L’Instant de Guerlain, Amour by Kenzo and Frederic Malle’s Musc Ravageur.

I love wearing my hair: It’s mostly hidden in braided extensions which is faster for day to day maintenance.

People might be surprised to know: that I have a massive Bollywood movies collection. I can open my own dvd store. True story.

My favorite hair product is: Dr. Bronner’s Liquid Soap.Simple and effective.

I don’t understand people who don’t like: Dessert (pastries, ice cream..how can you not love them?!)

The restaurant I can never get tired of is: The Farm on Adderley on Courtelyou Road in Brooklyn. The best burger and French fries. The place is cozy, rustic the staff is super friendly and without exaggerating everything on the menu is good. They even make something simple like broccoli and garlic taste better that I could ever think it could be.

Though I can make a mean: eggplant parmigiana from scratch.

What inspires me: For one, the unbreakable spirit of the people of Haiti and the generous people who have contributed their time and effort to organize fundraisers to help them out. Nature in general but mostly the ocean. The vastness of it is calming and somehow helps me to put life and its ups and downs in perspective.
