Iguana – Tex-Mex in Midtown West

May 12, 2010

Iguana is one of those restaurants I would always pass by but never thought it was more than a bar. It’s actually way bigger than I had thought (THREE floors to dine and dance) and when my friend had her birthday dinner there recently, I found that the Tex-Mex food they serve there is actually pretty tasty.

They make fresh guacamole and spicy to taste.

I loved the veggie/goat-cheese open-faced quesadilla I had:

I didn’t get to try the other plates, but for your viewing pleasure:

Fish tacos

Burritos

It’s pretty ideal for a group dinner because of the space and great food. I’m craving those quesadillas quite a bit though…think I’ll be going back very soon…

Zoya nail polish in Sabrina

May 7, 2010

I resisted the urge for once to go color happy on a recent visit to Elizabeth Arden’s Red Door Spa and stuck to a neutral white with very pale fleshy pink undertones that Zoya calls “Sabrina.”

As part of their Champagne & Rose Manicure, they’ll offer you a virgin cranberry drink while they treat your hands to an exfoliating scrub and warm paraffin treatment…that’s all right after they nestle a warm scented pillow around your neck and give you a back rub — all for only $42.

P.S. The nail tech, Eugenia, really took care of my cuticles unlike my recent visit to Bliss. I always get yelled at by manicurists about my cuticles. I need help.

Finding Good Hair Product for Men

By ASy
***Read til the end for a Philip Kinglsey Giveaway!***

Beauty and the Feast

I’m a sucker for two things: good kicks and good hair. Whether you own a pair of Jordan’s, Puma’s, or the John Varvatos Chuck Taylors, each unique sneaker has its own personality and usually tells a story about who you are, your character and style. Like a fresh pair of Nikes, a good hair style does precisely the same.

But time and time again, whenever the American Crew Pomadeor the Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shaping Creamcontainers come to an end, I find myself wondering what product I’ll buy next, because I am never fully satisfied. I make do, but sometimes at the expense of too much product, it results in a heavy feeling and most importantly, a stiff, flaky look.

I’ve struggled to find a good reliable product, until now…

TopShop launches new makeup line

May 5, 2010

UK-brand TopShop is following the footsteps of clothing stores like H&M and debuting their full makeup line today, reports InStyle UK.

TopShop.com

In collaboration with makeup artist Hannah Murray, the store will feature two collections: the “Trend Collection” which will showcase new styles every three weeks, and the “Core Collection” which will include makeup staples like bronzers.

Surprisingly, the prices are not as outrageous as the clothing you’d find there: Lip products from $8-$16, Eye liners, $8, Shadows for $12, Blushes for $12 and a fun mix of the bold and classic (looking for yellow eyeshadow anyone?).

Finally, something I can afford when I sheepishly walk into the store. To shop their makeup line, go to topshop.com.
