Can I just say, I’m one of Pat McGrath‘s biggest fans ever? So yeah, I was excited to talk with the British makeup guru last night, who’s normally found behind the scenes at fashion shows like Gucci, Dior and Armani. McGrath was on hand at the LeSportSac store in Soho to unveil the limited edition makeup bags she help design with CoverGirl — and it was nothing as I had imagined.
Foregoing the normally bright and colorful signature designs you would normally find on a LeSportSac bag, McGrath opted for sleek, shiny black exteriors with a touch of yellow.
I asked her why such a departure from what you would normally find on LeSportSac bags. She said: “I was inspired by black mascara and the yellow adds a pop of color that I drew from the actual yellow packaging [of Lashblast Length] — I thought it was a nice contrast. The nylon exterior also gives it a very strong 80s feel.”
