Beauty on the Streets: Nia Chung

Nia Chung

Name: Nia Chung

Age: 24

Occupation: Art Director

Location: NYC

Website: www.hellonia.com & www.eatworkdrink.com

“I’m an Art Director at Ogilvy & Mather and a Steering Committee member of KACF (Korean American Community Foundation), a non-profit organization. I enjoy cooking and drinking, which I keep a photo archive of on Eat.Work.Drink and also love venturing out to new restaurants and speakeasy-type bars in the city.”

My style is: sophisticated and classic. Sometimes with an urban twist.

My favorite designer: Theory and Rag & Bone.

People usually compliment my: outfits.

I’ll never forget the time: I was in Naples with my friend Jess and we only had 10 minutes to run to the “best pizza in Naples”, Da Michele, to buy two pizza pies and run back to the train station. We made it back. But we were drenched in pizza cheese from running to the station and the pizza was cold. Ended up eating only one slice each and giving it rest to the homeless couple next to us on the train. I have never run like that in my life. What I would do for “the best pizza in the world.”

Worst habit: Workaholic and impatient. Although I consider it detrimental only when I’m ill.

For my skin, I use: For Day: SK-II Facial Treatment Clear + SK-II Facial Clear + Missha Sunscreen; For Night: SK-II Facial Treatment Clear + SK-II Facial Treatment Essence + SK-II Skin Refining Treatment.

My favorite makeup tip: BareEscentuals bareMinerals Foundation and Blush is the best barely there foundation/concealer and blush. It’s light so you don’t feel like you’re wearing anything and it stays on for the entire day, no need to touch up. Also, it’s inexpensive and lasts a very long time. I’ve used the same containers for about a year now.

Current beauty product obsession: Niagra Lipstick by Nars. It was an impulse buy but I’ve been wearing it everyday since. It’s a great summer color and it brightens up any outfit. And I also love OPI’s “A Good Man-darin is Hard to Find” nail polish.

But I also can’t live without: Shiseido Deep Brown Eyebrow Pencil. The perfect shade for Asian brows.

My favorite scent is: Diptyque’s Baies Candle.

People might be surprised to know: I’m legally blind. My eyes are -7.00 on both sides.

My favorite hair product is: Shiseido Tsubaki Shampoo and Conditioner.

I don’t understand people who don’t like: Meat!!

The restaurant I can never get tired of is: Ippudo, 65 4th Avenue. The Akamaru Modern is the best ramen in New York.

Though I can make a mean: Japanese Curry Rice.

What inspires me: My mother, my family, and…New York City!
