Ritu Ashrafi

Name: Ritu Ashrafi

Age: 26

Occupation: Fashion blogger/Online advertising marketer

Location: NYC

Website: http://thestylester.com

“I am the editor of The Stylester. Born in Bangladesh, raised in India, Quebec, Toronto and currently living in NYC! I’m a Madison Ave girl – working in online advertising by day, and a writer, blogger and sample sale addict by night..”

My style is: moody…it depends more on my mood rather than trends.

My favorite designer right now is: Bibhu Mohapatra.

People usually compliment my: curly hair.

I’ll never forget the time: I met Rachel Roy during Fashions Night Out last year, when she asked me what my background was. I answered Bangladeshi. Then she said “Don’t ever let a man break your heart.” I still wonder what spurred it but so happy to have received such a personal message from her.

Worst habit: twirling my hair.

For my skin, I use: Nivea!

My favorite makeup tip: Use primer! It’ll make you look flawless. I love Make Up For Ever’s Prime SPF 50/PA +++.

Current beauty product obsession: Lancome Définicils Precious Cell mascara.

But I also can’t live without: Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner.

My favorite scent is: Calvin Klein Beauty.

People might be surprised to know: My name means ‘season’ in Bengali, Hindi and Sanskrit.

My favorite hair product is: Sally Hershberger Style Primer for Wavy Hair.

I don’t understand people who don’t like: eggplant.

The restaurant I can never get tired of is: Chinese Mirch on 28th and Lex. I love the Coriander Chicken there! For me, it’s comfort food with a twist.

Though I can make killer: Spicy Asian rice noodle stir fry with peanut sauce.

Who inspires me: Vanessa Hong of http://thehautepursuit.com for being fashionable in Canada (trust me, its not easy) and unaplogetic about it.
