Folica went all out once again with their Holiday Hairstyles themed Hair-to Tuesday! If you remember from my last post, Hair-To Tuesdays are monthly events held by Folica where they invite professionals to teach us a style and then they give us everything we would ever need and more to recreate it on our own. The gift bags are generous, and this session, sponsored by Hot Tools was no exception! The stylists used inspiration from red carpet styles of Jessica Alba (braided updo), Gwyneth Paltrow (fancy bun with headband), and Taylor Swift (messy side bun).
Stylist Jay Santiago led her stylists from La Bottega Salon (is it a good time to mention that they also surprised us with gift certificates for their salon services at the end of class?). The whole night, filled with food, drinks and LOTS of girl talk, felt kinda like a slumber party. If you missed it, here are some tips to achieve the first look they showed us (a braided updo). DIRECTIONS FOR A WAVY SIDE BUN WITH BRAID
1. Blow dry hair with fingers or paddle brush
2. Make 3 sections in hair: Two from ear to ear on both sides and a back section
3. Curl entire hair in 1″ sections ( when curling , place hair over curling iron; do not open clamp)
4. Using a smoothing balm or gloss break the curls with fingers (the stylist mixed TWO of my favorite serums for this — Sedu Anti-Frizz Polishing Treatment with Argan oil and Bed Head’s After-Party)
5. Braid hair on one side
6. Bring all hair softly to the side where the braid is and pin up
8. Spray hair with a light hold spray
9. Final touch add accessories to hair
We split into groups afterwards with the stylists to help us recreate the look of our choice on our own:
