Beauty on the Streets: Miral Sattar

Miral Sattar

Name: Miral Sattar

Age: 31

Occupation: Sr. Production Manager/Contributer for TIME.com by day. Founder of Divanee.com (South Asian Entertainment and Wedding Network) by night

Location: NYC

Website: www.divanee.com

“1/3 new media journalist. 1/3 entrepreneur. 1/3 engineer.”

My style: colorful.

My favorite designer right now is: Manish Arora

People usually compliment my: smile or my eyes.

The best part about starting my own website is: watching it grow and getting feedback from someone you would not expect like Rachel Roy, NBC, or American Express. It’s also awesome when other news media companies like popeater.com and gawker.com link to it because it means we’re legit!

I’ll never forget the time: My baby brother, Amir, was 4-years-old and he came to me and told me he was ‘stressed out’ about not waking up in time for school. I assured him that I would make sure he woke up in time.

For my skin, I use: Baby oil to clean my makeup. It keeps the wrinkles away. I also love Soap & Glory’s Girligo Spray-On Body Moisturizing Mist

My favorite makeup tip: I put vitamin E on my nails once a week with a qtip. It’s just like a manicure. I also occasionally put almond oil in my hair for 15 minutes in the winter before I shower. It automatically conditions your hair.

Current beauty product obsession: Spray-on lotions. There are so many and so easy to use.

But I also can’t live without:Lorac Couture Shine. It doesn’t stick to your hair and the color looks lovely on anyone.

Worst habit: crunching ice.

My favorite scent is: Marc Jacobs By Marc Jacobs.

People might be surprised to know: that I was an electrical engineer/computer science major in college and a software engineer for seven years.

My favorite hair product is: Kerestase Bain Satin 1 – you will never get split ends and your hair never needs much work after you’ve used it.

I don’t understand people who don’t like: ethnic food. It makes life worth living

The restaurant I can never get tired of is: Le Relais de Venise L’Entrecote. They only have one thing on the menu: steak frites. I normally don’t eat steak, but their green sauce+steak+fries combo is heaven in my mouth.

Though I can make a mean: Salsa Biryani. It’s my lazy version of biryani with salsa that I can make in 20 minutes.

Who inspires me: Really creative entrepreneurs and really great writers. My family and my husband because they support me in everything I do.

And the great thing about BiblioCrunch is it is not JUST for self-publishers, you can be a small press, big publishing house, tntaidioral author, or a publishing professional and still join and connect with others. I’m really excited to see how it will grow!
