Interview with actress Reshma Shetty of Royal Pains

I got to meet the lovely Brit actress, Reshma Shetty, who plays a physician’s assistant named Divya on the show, Royal Pains. The funny thing is I got to chat with her last month during Fashion Week and totally didn’t think that I got her interview on tape, but alas…the tape has reemerged! Read on for our brief chat on food and beauty:

BATF: Let’s get the housekeeping questions out of the way first — do you have a favorite restaurant in New York?
Reshma Shetty: I love Jack’s Luxury Oyster Bar on Second Avenue in the East Village. I’m longing for them to give me a free meal because I’ve mentioned their name so many times!

BATF: What about your favorite beauty products?
RS: Well today I’m wearing Chanel on my face. I also use Jouer at home sometimes. Oh! And I found an eyeliner from Buxom. I think it’s the best under-eyeliner ever. I always have it and it on me and it makes my eyes look AWESOME.

BATF: How is it like being South Asian and working in the TV industry as a minority?
RS: I feel that there are more and more South Asians in our industry. I guess you can say you feel like a role model a little bit because you know that you’re doing something that’s different. I’m just really proud to be able to represent and hopefully do it well by playing roles that show our culture in a really good light. And you know, be able to make fun myself and make fun of us.

BATF: Who is your inspiration as an actress?
RS: I’m very drawn to great British actors, like Judi Dench, Emma Thompson, and that’s not just because I grew up in the UK but because I think their work is incredible and exceptional.
