Zoya Lavender nails and Kimmie’s Gimmies at Polished Beauty Bar

A few of her favorite things: Kimmies Gimmies

Last night, accessories expert and fellow blogger, Kimmie Smith, hosted a small tweet-up at Polished Beauty Bar on the Upper West Side.

Hair done, nails done, e'erythin did
Oh for us? A gift bag of Kimmie's faves

The salon is gorgeous and I totally get why it’s Kimmie has been raving about it — you can leave snobby attitudes at the door here. Polished BB is cozy, has the most attentive and qualified employees, and I have yet to find a celeb manicurist as down-to-earth and chill as Susan Nam. Only after enough prying from a room full of fashion and beauty bloggers did she tell us a few behind-the-scenes gems from working with celebs — among them, the client she probably had the most fun with was JWoWW (yes, as in Jersey Shore). “Most celebrities surprisingly are not divas — either that or they’re scared of me because I’m holding sharp tools,” Nam jokes.

Happy post-manicure gals

Of course, most important, this salon is sterile, like BEYOND. It features a certified air purification system, shoe sanitizer, medical-grade sanitized tools, bacteria-resistant pedi stations, etc. It doesn’t even stop at their tools and fixtures, they have the widest selection of Zoya’s triple-free, non toxic nail polish and organic mani using products from Pharmacopia.

Special delivery from Lush

It was also the perfect intimate setting for us to get together, catch up over manis and get a short preview of Kimmie’s favorites for Spring. Among them, watches with poppy spring colors from Skagen (she gave us each one in our gift bag), eco-friendly products from Lush and Amala, my favoriteee dry shampoo from Batiste, CND nailpolishes (including Jason Wu’s limited edition set), jewelry from Monet.

As for me, I had a hard time just choosing a color for my manicure, but I finally settled on Zoya’s lavender “Marley” from their new Spring “Intimate Collection.” I love it because it’s not only a super light lavender, it has the prettiest pearlescent cream finish:

This should brighten things up. Thanks for the wonderful evening, Kimmie!

What nail colors are you sporting for Spring?

  1. I so live vicariously through your blog! Food, Fashion, Fun 😀
Such an awesome break from the day to day Cough, Croup, Coryza…

Have you experimented with OPI Black Shatter for nails? My daughter has been crazy about it… They have several new shades in it coming out as well.

awww thanks Saadia! And funny you mention the OPI line, because I was looking for that in the salon when i was there…couldn’t find it unfortunately. It’s such a cool-looking nail polish collection, i’ve seen it on other people!

I seriously love your website.. Very nice colors & theme.
Did you develop this amazing site yourself?

Please reply back as I’m planning to create my own personal website and would like to learn where you got this from or exactly what the theme is called. Cheers!
