Eggs (and pretty nails) at Norma’s

I’ve written about Norma’s a couple of times before, and while I’ve heard others have had mixed feelings about their meal, I still have yet to have a bad experience. Last week, I went back with the lovely Christine White of Court & Hudson and her co-worker Lucy. We tried extra hard to ignore the sugary dishes (at least I was), and all went straight for the eggs. I tried the Artychoked Benedict this time poached eggs topped with a creamy truffle porcini sauce…mushrooms….yummmmm.

Christine went for the Farm Fresh eggs that comes with homestyle sausage, and Lucy ordered Norma’s Eggs Benedict, served over a buttermilk pancake, grilled asparagus and Canadian bacon.

My friend Ridaa also sent me a pic of her Eggs Benedict here (sans bacon) dish and said it was ‘good but safe’ (pic below). I guess if you’re looking for something different when it comes to poached eggs, try it with interesting sauces (like the porcini sauce above). Unless you’re like my dad, who likes his no-frills breakfast the same way everyday: Kellogg’s Corn Flakes and a glass of orange juice. EVERY day.

I also can’t help but mention the Guest of Honor: Lucy’s nails. No seriously, look at these:

Sally Hansen real nail polish strip

She used Sally Hansen’s Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips in “Collide-o-Scope.” Even looking at them up close, I had no idea they were nail stickers. They looked like she just walked out of the salon. I saw Lauren (aka LDIVA) of Divalicious rockin these shimmery gold ones the very NEXT day at our lunch meeting with Cosmo magazine, and it looked just as brilliant. I have a pack of the same nail polish strips from Sally Hansen myself that I’m FINALLY going to use after seeing them all up close and personal now. Has anyone else tried them?

Oh and also, some people asked that I start using a grading system for the restaurants I go to. I think I’m going to just use a simple 1 to 3 stars scale (1 being the worst).
