Sadly, I feel like I’m forever catching up on all the things that happened during Fashion Week. But this one is worth mentioning, and it was actually a trip outside of New York to Jersey (no, really) — New Brunswick to be exact. I was invited to check out the new Annie Sez store. I admit, it would take a lot for me to leave the island, but I was promised it’d be worth it.
I can’t say I’ve ever been to an Annie Sez. I know it was one of the “designers-for-less” store variety but that’s about it. When I went though, the first thing I found was how well it was merchandised — instead of trying to sift through thousands of shirts in one area of a million mixed brands, they were all grouped by a single brand: Marc by Marc Jacobs in one corner, Vivienne Tam in another, Lucky Brand, and on. It made shopping a LOT easier. And the accessories! Their shoes in particular made me drool: L.A.M.B., Steve Madden, BCBG…I mean, check some of these out:
And lastly, they were so on trend: furs, animal prints, leathers, brights to color block. I walked out of there with a Cynthia Steffe shirt that was originally $80 for only $19, and this Isabella Rodriguez leopard print shirt that I pretty much live in now for only $20*.
This particular store just opened last month. In case you’re thinking that you’ve been to an Annie Sez that doesn’t look like this one, keep a look out — all their other stores are following suit and their buyers are tirelessly looking for the best deals, so a re-vamp in structure is underway! One thing that the Creative Director asked us to do before we left is: “Please, keep us in your tweets!” I thought that was cute :). Follow Annie Sez (@shopanniesez) to stay in the loop for more deals!
