Last week, I had the chance to sit-in a class at CHICSTUDIOS, a makeup artistry school in the Financial District of Manhattan. Instructor Jonny Polizzi led a class on color theory, sculpting and shading, and ended it off by showing students how to do a classic smokey eye before the students paired off to practice doing it on each other. Needless to say, they packed a lot of helpful info in a three-hour class.
The cool thing about the class was how laidback and relaxed it was, while still equipping the students with some really awesome beauty gems. Like the best way to disguise a blemish? Apply concealer on top but also a dab of a lighter shade right beneath it to counteract the shadow of a raised pimple; or how using orange first before concealer on olive-medium skin tones can cancel out the dark gray circles around the eyes best.
If you’re interested in learning more about how to apply makeup on yourself or on others as a professional makeup artist, I highly recommend checking out some of the classes and workshops CHICSTUDIOS has to offer. The good news is they’ve partnered up with BATF for an exclusive reader discount! Just show them or mention the discount card below!
