BATF Giveaways - Beauty - "The Lovely" - Hair - Product Review

CLEAR’s new Active Damage Resist line is legit. Win it here & try yourself!

January 12, 2015

If you feel like your hair is fried, you’re not alone. Damage caused by styling products is a problem for 80 percent of women. Blow drying, flat ironing, or – in my case – being a wee bit curling iron crazed helps with a style for day, but the cumulative damage is staggering. I’ve been so relentless with my hair but I’ve always tried to keep a regimen to prevent it from showing. When I was introduced to CLEAR Scalp & Hair’s latest and greatest — their Active Damage Resist Ultra Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner, which claims to reverse visible damage by 100 percent – I had to give it a try.

The duo is infused with Omega 3-6-9 complex, which helps rebuild fiber damaged by heat and chemicals from root to tip. My hair felt smoother from the first shot; by the second my hair was glowing. Usually my fear with products that claim to de-frizz is that my strands fall flat, but my hair still found volume after blow drying and brushing through it. Take a look – this is after curling my hair and not using any other styling products except CLEAR’s shampoo and conditioner:

Since I don’t consider giving up my heat tools for good is not an option, this is going to go a long way for me. Since I started using the line, I feel less guilty since it’s repairing my ends and my hair actually feels stronger (tests show that Clear’s shampoo and conditioner helps with 97 percent less breakage from combing on severely damaged hair with this line versus non-conditioning shampoo). My strands are even curling better with way more bounce and shine. Not bad for a drugstore brand that won’t break the bank either.

.

The line just launched this month – anyone else want to be one of the first to try it? BATF Giveaways - Beauty - "The Lovely"

Giveaway: Win $50 Walgreens gift card (recreate these gorgeous Neutrogena looks!)

January 10, 2015

Anyone tune into the People’s Choice Awards this week? There was plenty of beauty inspiration on the red carpet and I have the inside scoop to two in particular: Gabrielle Union and Bella Thorne, both Neutrogena brand ambassadors who had their makeup done by Amy Oresman and Fiona Stiles.

Bella Thorne’s Look: Modern and Powerful

Bella Thorne's 2015 PCA look

From Amy:
“We kept her skin clean and glowing using Neutrogena Skin Clearing foundation and brightened under her eyes with the Heathy Skin Brightening Eye Perfector. Before I do this step I always prep the skin with a great moisturizer to lock in the skin’s moisture and maintain a dewey, natural glow. We used Bella’s staple moisturizer which is the new Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Moisturizer Pink Grapefruit which keeps your skin soft but also treats breakouts.

We kept Bella’s eyes nude using the new Neutrogena Soft Taupe Nourishing Long Wear eye shadow palette with built-in primer and added three coats of Healthy Volume mascara in black with Nourishing Eye Liner in Spiced Chocolate on the top lash line.

We set her look with highlight around her face using Neutrogena Crease Proof eyeshadow in Stay Golden on her cheekbones and bridge of nose.

We wanted to focus on her amazing lips by contrasting a soft red coral with her black Armani power suit. Using a combination of NARS coral lipstick in Lana mixed with Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Bright Berry over the top.”

Gabrielle Union’s Look: Pretty and fresh.

From Fiona:

“A soft smokey eye balanced out a pretty soft lip with her gorgeous glowing skin. The dress was such a great vibrant color, it felt nice to do something that was a little sexy but still really pretty and approachable at the same time.

We started by prepping her skin with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel it absorbs quickly but keeps the skin really hydrated which is key to maintain a natural glow from the inside out.

To create this soft smokey eye we started with the Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear eye shadow palette in Cool Plum and added a of couple coats of Healthy Volume mascara in black with Nourishing Eye Liner in Brushed Pewter blended into the lash line. Their new color palettes give you a lid, crease, highlighter and liner color, which makes doing smokey eyes really easy. And to off-set her eye we went with a muted lip using Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Sweet Watermelon.”

Want to try recreating one of the looks for yourself? I’m giving away $50 Walgreens gift cards to FIVE readers, courtesy of Neutrogena! Do either of these to enter, but doing both will increase your chances:
