Francesco Clark, the founder of skincare line, Clark’s Botanicals, shares his inspiring story with The Wall Street Journal of how he began his successful $8 million company after suffering an injury that left his body mostly paralyzed:
“In 2002, he suffered a severe spinal-cord injury from a pool diving accident that left him without the ability to feel or move 98% of his body. As a result, Mr. Clark’s skin became unresponsive to temperature. He stopped sweating, and the condition of his skin deteriorated. After trying dozens of skincare products, both over-the-counter and prescription, Mr. Clark took matters into his own hands.”

Before I left for Europe, I stumbled upon makeup store Inglot right in the middle Times Square. I was in makeup heaven. I was surprised that not only have I never heard of it prior to this, but I never even seen it before.
Figures why though — the Polish company (pronounced in-GLOT, not in-Glo as I keep wanting to say it) opened their first US outpost in Times Square only four and a half months ago in June 2009. After my first visit, I’m entirely convinced that if it’s color you’re seeking, this is the place to go.

I loathe going to get waxed (yeah, really, who doesn’t?). Even if it feels great afterwards, it’s just the whole process, the time, and you know…the pain. Though this salon may have just made me change my thoughts on all of the above.
I was invited to try out Uni.K.Wax in Murray Hill where I met with Tabitha. She led me back to one of the rooms (there are ten). She started explaining how unique the wax really was.

Dove's new Ultimate Visibly Smooth line
No need to mince words, right? That is how I imagine Dove came up with the name PitiCure for their latest at-home beauty solution for sensitive underarm skin. This ‘cure does for your pits what a pedicure does for your feet. Who knew that was necessary?
Creators say the treatment cares for the delicate area by removing dead skin and impurities through exfoliation, thus preventing unwanted irritation from shaving, sweating and contact with fabrics. I was a little skeptical. It actually just seemed like just another way to hawk their latest deodorant, the Ultimate Visibly Smooth Anti-Perspirant, which is supposed to help minimize the look and feel of underarm hair over time. After all, one whole step in the three-step process is dedicated to applying it.
The search for the perfect sunscreen
California sunshine has its perks, but sunburn is not one of them. I pretty much spend my days hiding from the sun, which is quite difficult to master in sun-soaked Southern Cali.
The alternative to this exhausting game of hide and seek, however, is sunscreen.
To be perfectly honest, I am not a fan of the stuff. I don’t enjoy replacing my Philosophy Amazing Grace body lotion with a chalky white substance with a smell that evokes memories of crying children at a public pool.
