Last minute gift ideas from Target! Plus win a $25 gift card :)

December 19, 2013

If you’re REALLY the last-minute type, be a little earth-friendly this year and work those digital gift cards. I recently used mine to help buy a couch for our living room from Target. I was able to just put my gift card towards my half of it (can’t wait for it to get here…happy holidays to 9D!). Here are some more 11th hour #MyKindofHoliday gift ideas you can still grab — tell me about your favorite gift ideas from Target below and you can win a $25 gift card! PS, you can also use Target’s Cartwheel mobile app to save, share, and reload your gift cards.

1) Philips Sonicare Battery Operated toothbrush, $29.99. Once you try a battery operated toothbrush like this one, you’ll wonder why you never made the switch before. Factual story — since I’ve switched I haven’t had a cavity to booth in any dentist visit thereafter. I’m a lifer.

.

2) George Foreman Grill, $19.99. Why I never had this before is beyond me, but on my last visit to Target, I picked this up and it’s changed my meals for the better. Now I have healthier ways to prepare my chicken and meats without skimping on flavor.

.

3) Sonia Kashuk Lavish Luxe 10 pc Brush Set, $27. This affordable (and beautiful) brush set from the master brush expert herself is a must have. It’ll stand apart from the rest easily (and at such a great price point!).

.

4) Zadro Fogless mirror, $12.99. File this under things everyone needs but would never think to buy themselves.

.

4) Merona canvas messenger bag, $20. He will use it. He will love it. He may also never know it was only $20 bucks.

.

Nails & Gadgets: Covergirl Fanicures and EYN phone covers!

September 25, 2013

Good news for football fans! The NFL recently partnered with CoverGirl to bring you Fanicures — nail polish bundles inspired by your favorite team’s colors. I went “nailgate-ing” recently with celebrity manicurist Ayana Clark, and got a Giants mani for myself :).

NFL New York Giants Fanicure with Covergirl

(By the way, the nails above are FIVE days after my manicure — no chips! Legit, I always say these Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Glosses are made to last). Ayana used CoverGirl’s Snow Storm #110, Sapphire Flare #307, and Lasting Love #180 for my fanicure. (Giants fans can click here to check out the How-To).

.

I thought it’d also be a good time to show you another cool product, because somewhere along the way, my Nails & Gadgets posts became a thing here. So with that, let me introduce you to EYN iPhone storage cases, which I’ve already got my cousin and sister hooked on.

EYN iPhone case in Chartreuse

EYN (which aptly stands for Everything You Need) cases look even better in person. Some cool features: the covers are made of a soft-as-butter polycarbonate; it allows you to carry the bare essentials like credit cards and cash safely in a clip; it even has a mirror inside for touch-ups. Love this for everyday use or as a gift (the Galaxy covers are coming in a couple months!), and costs $30 at eynproducts.com.

A little treat from KazKouture

August 14, 2013

It’s probably my love of different scripts that led me to this gorgeous bag. I ended up in some Alice-in-Wonderland’ish rabbit hole of pictures on Instagram one night, and landed on this bag from the Dallas, TX-based KazKouture. I was fixated on it that I had to (needed to) have it for myself :D.

KazKouture purse

Banana Republic bracelet/La Mer strap watch/Catbird initial rings

The golden Arabic script is sprawled against a solid canvas backdrop (there are no words, it’s just letters). It also comes in beautiful pops of colors — white, hot pink, cobalt blue, green, to name a few.

Worn as a purse

I love that it can be used as a clutch, or the 40″ gold chain inside can be pulled out to be used as a shoulder bag. A perfect accent piece to a casual outfit or a more formal occasion. I’m using this bag every chance I get now!

.

Avon nail polish and Lisi nail glitter

.

Back side of clutch

on left hand: Catbird inital skinny rings

.

The bag is available for purchase online at KazKouture.com for $54. Check out the rest of their Middle Eastern inspired jewelry and scarves too! They make such lovely gifts too.

What do you think? Anyone else about to buy one for themselves?

Nail polish
: Avon Nailwear Pro Enamel in Sea Breeze topped with Lisi Nail Lacquer in Quantum (gold glitter)

*Thanks to the lovely girls at KazKouture for sending the bag so fast!

7 Last minute Mother’s Day gift ideas!

May 10, 2013

Mother’s Day is May 12th. Yes, that’s in two days. Because we’re all procrastinators (just hold my hand, it’s OK), here are some suggestions of gifts you can get your lovely mama:

Sonia Kashuk Native Beauty Brush Set, $17

Sonia Kashuk Native Beauty Brush Set

I always say makeup brushes are the best gifts. It’s one of those things we don’t think to invest in, but trust me, everyone needs a good set. Your brushes make all the difference in how your makeup looks. I love these bright brushes from Sonia Kashuk that come in a chic raffia tribal case. Plus it’s a travel set, that easily fits in a bag or clutch. Perfect for moms who are constantly on-the-go. The set includes a Synthetic Domed Powder Brush, Eye Shadow Brush, Angled Fluffy Eye Shadow Brush and Synthetic Pointed Eyeliner/Lip Brush with full size brush heads.

Lancôme Trésor In Love Hearts Set, $61

Lancôme Trésor In Love Hearts Set

A gorgeous scent, Tresor in Love, packaged with a mascara that will give your mama Kim Kardashian-lashes — no really, her makeup artist used Lancome Doll Lashes Mascara on Kardashian for her wedding day.

Vitamix 5200 blender
, $450

Vitamix 5200

I know. It’s $450, but it’s the Rolls-Royce of blenders. This blends everything and anything, and has a 7-year warranty. When my mom discovered this, she would call me every single day to tell me to get the same thing just based on how many healthy drinks she can make from this one alone. This 5200 is the standard, but they have a bunch more options on their website. If you guys read my post earlier today, this green smoothie is ONE of them. Bonus: You will easily secure your spot as ‘favorite child’ after this one.

DDF Revolve 400X, $99 for the kit

DDF Revolve 400X

She probably doesn’t have time to get facials, much less setting up a microderm appointment. Here’s a much less intimidating option: DDF’s Revolve 400X Micro-Polishing System. It’s dubbed to be just as good as professional treatments and at a fraction of the cost. It’s a spa day at home, ya’ll!

Sonia Kashuk Beauty organizers in Floral and Yarn, $25 each

Makeup organizers from Target

Another great find at Target: these organizers are beautiful on it’s own or filled with Mom’s favorite beauty goodies!

Laura Mercier La Petite Patisserie Eau Gourmande Fragrance Coffret, $45

La Petite Patisserie Eau Gourmande Fragrance Coffret

.

These gorgeous scents from Laura Mercier are limited edition and includes includes three travel-friendly scents in Vanille, Fresh Fig and Almond Coconut Milk. Scents to compliment any type, and can even be layered for a lovely unique scent that your mother can claim for her own. Gift wrap optional — did you check out the pretty box it comes in??

French’s Flavor Infusers, $1 each

French's Flavor Infusers

One of the many great things Robert Verdi has taught me is that it’s really the sentiment that matters most in the gift, and it’s also very easy to package affordable, useful items in a pretty way. I’d take items, like these $1 Flavor Infusers from French’s, and package them in a pretty basket along with other items (tissues, scented hand soap, homemade cookies, etc). These are 10-minute flavor marinades that doesn’t require refrigeration, and because it has a pointy tip, you can infuse it right into your meat and let it sit for only 10 minutes before it’s ready to be cooked. Saving mom time? Isn’t that the greatest gift of all?

What gift are you getting your mom this year?

13 HOLIDAY GIFT IDEAS

December 18, 2012

Alas! I finally got a chance to take stock of some of the amazing limited-edition holiday offerings from a few of my favorite brands. If you’re hard-pressed for gift ideas, take a minute to be inspired:

1. BARE ESCENTUALS A VISION IN VELVET, $79

A Vision in Velvet eyecolor collection

Twenty gorgeous shades of Bare Escentuals eye colors in jaw-dropping velvet and satin finishes. Gorgeously packaged in a row with blendable, buttery textures that can be mixed and matched. Worth $220 but available in a limited-edition for a fraction of the price, there’s just no way to go wrong with this gift for the beauty junkie.

2. ELF NAIL CUBE, $10

ELF Nail Cube

Nail colors

Do yourself a favor and stop by Target, because they have the most ingenious gift ideas, like this Elf Nail Cube. Not only does it have 14-holiday friendly colors of mini-nailpolishes, but it’s presented in a cute cube that displays them each beautifully. How can your resident polish enthusiast not appreciate this?! Plus, it’s a wallet friendly $10.

3. ELF 144-PIECE EYESHADOW PALETTE, $15

Brights palette

Neutral palette

While you’re at Target anyway, I imagine this palette with every eye shadow color imaginable would be hard to pass up. You get 144 colors for only $15. Pick from brights for the adventurous beauty girl, or the neutral palette for the sophisticated types.

4. CRAFT COFFEE MEMBERSHIP, $30 for a 1-month subscription

Craft Coffee

The people behind Craft Coffee take their java very seriously. I’m talking 55 hours of tasting, evaluating more than 50 coffees from around the world each month. They only accept the very delectable though (and they’re tough judges, accepting less than 6% of the coffee that end up on their table!). The best part is they do all the work for you and send members a pack of three flavors that come out on top every month. If you know anyone who are just as critical of their coffee, this gift is definitely a creative way to help them indulge in their habit.

5. BENEFIT SHE’S SO…JETSET! MAKEUP KIT, $36

She's so Jetset Kit

For someone who travels as much as I do, I would definitely appreciate a compact palette like this one from Benefit that has all the essentials — a 4-shade eyeshadow palette, their pore-covering POREfessional, They’re Real! Mascara (a must if you haven’t tried it…I care a small tube with me everywhere), face powder with brush, lip gloss, and a double-ended applicator. Easily fits in your jetsetters purse, and won’t give her any trouble at security. Comes complete with a How-To-Apply instructions as well.

6. BENEFIT CRESCENT ROW PERFUME SET, $36

Benefit perfumes

While we’re talking about Benefit, HAVE you guys taken a whiff of their new perfumes yet?! They are INCREDIBLE and I’m obsessed with their limited-edition holiday kit of four fragrances in easy to-go etd vials. They’re each captivating on their own, but you can also mix and match florals to their oriental-woody scents to create your own scent. There’s so much good here. If you don’t get it for someone else, do a favor to yourself and gift to to yourself — you won’t regret it.

7. OJON TOTAL HAIR THERAPY SET, $40

Ojon gift set

One use of Ojon’s rare oil left my hair gleaming, so i wouldn’t think twice to recommend their kit. Helps hydrate, repair and boost hair shine with their mix of Tahitian monoi, marula, and kalahari desert oils.

8. EDWARD MARC SALTED CARAMELS, $30 FOR 32-PC SET

Edward Marc chocolates

Edward Marc truffles

If leaving a box of these chocolates on my living room coffee table, and finding it empty by the end of the day is an indication of how delicious these chocolates are, then that should be enough to get your favorite person a box of them yourself. Warning: It might just be an indication of how much my roommates and I love chocolate. But ANYWAY. If salted truffles aren’t your thing, their christmas oreos will be ($5/set of three). Their chocolates are handcrafted with ingredients from around the world — cocoa from West Africa and Indonesia, vanilla beans and spices from the South Pacific, and more. Check out their website for all their holiday-themed offerings: edwardmarc.com.

9. SENSATIONAIL STARTER KIT, $60

Sensationail at-home gel kit

If you have a friend who can’t quite get over their gel-nail polish addiction at the salon, this will make her day: an at-home gel-nail kit at a fraction of the price from SensatioNAIL. That means 10-minute manicures all in the comfort of your home. They also just launched their Glitter Effect duos that will get her in the holiday spirit in no time.

10. LAURA GELLER NEW YORK LOVE STORY PALETTE, $22

Laura Geller A New York Love Story

Laura Geller’s ode to NY. The most brilliant thing about this makeup palette (besides that it contains a round up of beautiful, romantic shades that take you from day to night), is that it’s as thin as a CD case. Translation: it will not only fit your purse, but it will also be fun to watch your loved one keep herself from rolling her eyes thinking it’s just another CD before she unwraps this gift to be completely blown away. And all for less than $30.

11. RUBINA’S CAKE SHOPPE GIFT BOX, $18 A BOX OF 6 TRUFFLES

Rubina’s Cake Shoppe truffles

Gourmet truffles with rich flavors (think chocolate cake blended with chocolate strawberry buttercream, hazelnut with vanilla cake, or coconut cake with coconut buttercream to name a few), there’s something for everyone. Create a box of a dozen decadent flavors with custom ribbons, gift message, and logo hangtags for a nice personalized touch.

12. MAC FABULOUSNESS EYE KITS, $40

MAC satin palettes

It’s going to be hard to find something as chic as MAC’s new satin-tufted compacts. Complete with matching shadows to compliment any girl’s style. They have equally luxe palettes for face available for $10 more.

13. CUISINART HAND BLENDER, $33

Cuisinart hand blenders

An essential accessory to any kitchen, this small blender has a powerful 200-watt motor and is dishwasher safe. The hardest part will be to pick a color.

What else is on your list?
