Japanese
Craving of the Day: Hibachi
I recently went out to have Japanese food with my cousins at Sakura in Parsippany, NJ, and though I’m not a sushi-lover myself, I did love watching the hibachi cooking action. It’s when the chefs cooks the food in front of you on a heated flat stove — it was the first time for me!
Not only is it fun to watch the chefs juggle their knives and spatulas around while they cook perfect portions of noodles, stir fried rice, meat, shrimp, and chicken, the food ends up having this great BBQ flavor.
Tea and sugary things at Cha An tea house – East Village

Darjeeling tea
My friend Marie recently introduced me to a hidden oasis — Japanese tea house in the East Village, Cha An. It’s really easy to pass right by it since it’s perched on the second floor of the building. But climb up a flight of steps and the dimly-lit tea house is perfect for an intimate get together.
They offer appetizers, desserts, and a full tea menu. We had chocolate-filled mochi balls with tea. If you’re not a fan of dessert of the sticky textures, you should probably skip the mochi and opt for their ice cream instead.
Japonois in NYC = amazing.

I haven’t been to many Japanese restaurants, but one that I am already craving to go back to is Japonais. I went for the first time recently, and the food is seriously mouth-watering good.

Sushi class with Iron Chef Morimoto: How do YOU roll?
I walked into Morimoto at this year’s New York City Wine & Food Festival overconfident that I could not only “roll” well above par, but that I’d also make one spicy yellowtail scallion roll I’d never forget.
When you’re a sushi addict, you tend to think you’ll have the knack for the making as well as you do the eating. Not so. Not only is it a lot harder than it looks, but the process is a perfected craft.

Me and Chef Morimoto! Did I mention he signed my sushi mat for me??
