Honey Cakes at Bee Desserts
I’ve been forever looking for a cafe in the city that captures that cozy, low-key atmosphere that I sort of miss from my U of I college days. I think I can safely say I was finally introduced to something that fits the mood: Bee Desserts in the West Village.
They are known for their all-natural honey cakes — a sugar and preservative-free chocolate covered cake that comes wrapped neatly in its signature gold tin foil.

Craving of the Day: Cappuccino from Agharta Jazz Club in Prague
A yummy cappuccino I had while in Prague. A+ for presentation, although it could have been served a little hotter. The experience of the intimate, underground jazz club in Old Town Square more than compensated for it though.

Craving of the Day: Two Boots Pizza
A NY staple chain, Two Boots is known for its cornmeal crust, Cajun-Italian cooking, and naming slices after cultural celebrities from some sort of entertainment. They have locations all over the city, but I happened to go to the one in the West Village recently with a friend where we got slices of the “The Tony Clifton” (mushroom, pepper pesto sauce, onions, mozarella) and “The Larry Tate” (spinach, plum tomatoes, garlic sauce, on a white pie).

Craving of the Day: Lattes and Italian Pastries in Rome, Italy
When my girlfriends and I went to Rome recently, we rented an apartment in Monteverde, where the we became the local neighborhood ladies’ favorites at a cafe we frequented every morning.
One day, my friend Shahla and I, being the caffeine fiends we are, decided we needed to go for a second round of coffee and dessert. This time, we ventured in the opposite direction of our usual spot. We didn’t have to go far though — not even a block away we found Caffè Negresco.
