Covering Fashion Week and a quick Fashion’s Night Out guide!
I FINALLY got back to NYC after a million delays at the airport (this weather is schizo). And that means I’m a teeny bit backed up with my posts and the guide I was planning on pulling together for you all. That said, IT’S OFFICIALLY FASHION WEEK! First off, just wanted to give you the head’s up and good news that I’ll be covering a lot of insidery happenings this week (backstage, Fashion’s Night Out, and other NYFW-related events) for Tyra Banks’ website, typeF.com! My first intro post just went live (check it out here!).
You can totally stalk my FW musings over there as I’ll be updating it pretty regularly. Second: Fashion’s Night Out. A lot of you had asked me for a FNO guide because, yes, it’s hella overwhelming. I’ll try my best – since I have to be backstage in about 6 hours, here’s some quick pointers:
- Essie (Bleecker Street & West 11th Street New York NY 10012) will be joining Teen Vogue for a block party that’ll be taking over Bleecker Street at 11th Street. Free manicures and essie’s celebrity manicurist, Elle Gerstein, will give you the lowdown on her celeb clients favorite nail looks.
Bordeaux nails via Red Door Spas backstage at Halston
Backstage at Halston, models were sporting a Essie’s deep red wine classic, “Bordeaux” by Essie.
Alisha Botero, National Training Director for Nails at Red Door Spas, told me a little about the color while diligently manicuring model Austria an hour before showtime
“Since the makeup is very light and fresh, the nails should be a bit dramatic with something like this wine-inspired red.” Botero says she predicts darker reds to be especially rampant this Fall and into the winter, but with a color like this, I think any occasion is the “right” occasion — rain or shine. A classic dark red was totally appropriate for Halston’s straightforward and clean-cut styles that I saw later at the presentation (more on this to come!).
