CoverGirl’s Queen Collection and U.N.I.T.Y. Reignited

Last week, I was invited to the Tribeca Grand by CoverGirl to celebrate two amazing happenings: (1) the premiere of Queen Latifah’s “U.N.I.T.Y. Reignited” web series and (2) the launch of her new Queen Collection lipsticks!

Last year, superstar Queen Latifah partnered with CoverGirl to hand-pick five incredibly talented women (Naakira, Gina, Shea, Amber and Christel) to re-record her hit song, U.N.I.T.Y. with producers Cool and Dr. Dre. We had a chance to meet four of the five gorgeous gals as they talked about their experience working with Queen. After hearing them speak about their journey, I felt it really was a testament to Queen’s eye for natural talent and grace — these girls were intelligent, funny, well-spoken, and out-of-control creative.

Partnering up with director Nefertite Nguvu, Queen also filmed ten webisodes, “The Road to U.N.I.T.Y.“, which features the young ladies and some of her other inspirations (MC Lyte and Yo-Yo) to speak on females in the hip-hop and music game. They premiered the webisodes that night, and I’m telling you, these young women will blow you away (the youngest one, Naakira, is 15 and can hold her own with the rest).

Celebrity make up artist, Sam Fine, was also on hand to guide us through the new Queen Collection lipsticks, which are infused with silky proteins and are highly-pigmented for women of all colors. They also come in some pretty luxe packaging that you normally wouldn’t find in the drugstore aisle.

He hand picked a beautiful shade, “Nude Rush” (#270), for me. Hey, if Iman‘s and Beyoncé‘s makeup artist picks out a lipstick for me, I’m definitely wearing it.
