A MUCH easier way to apply eyeliner

My sister and I bond over our unhealthy obsession with makeup. We often end up falling in love with each other’s products (and maybe sometimes stealing them). When I was in Turkey with her recently, I was admiring the way she lined her eyes. It was flawless with just the perfect winged-end, and she told me it takes her like three seconds to do it. And since I’m on the never-ending quest to perfect my eye liner technique, she let me on to her secret:

A power combo of Kryolan’s black shadow and a bent angled brush.

I’ve heard countless times it doesn’t matter how great your makeup is — it’s using the right tools that get the look. The secret weapon here is the bent angled brush. I never used this type of brush before, but it makes a WORLD of difference. If you know me, you know I’m always struggling with eye liner. For some reason, it just doesn’t come naturally to me and I seldom get it right on the first try. Liquid liner? Forget it.

But that’s why this brush is so fantastic. It makes the process much easier. It’s just ergonomical and since you won’t even have to stretch your eyelids (which you should really NOT be doing anyway to prevent fine lines around your eyes) to apply a straight line, it’s also just a whole lot more gentle on your eyes.

So this is how she does it (and ps, I tried it myself and it works so well I’m considering throwing out every other eye liner brush I own and pledging my allegiance to this for an everyday look):

1) She uses the lid of the eyeshadow case and pours a few drops of water into it.

2) Using the bent angled brush, she swirls it in the lid to wet the bristles.

3) Dip into the black shadow, downcast your eyes and apply to your lash line. With the bent angled brush, it’s so easy to control the liner and customize the line to as thin or thick as you want it.

The Kryolan shadow has a beautiful black finish. Since it’s a shadow (and not cream or gel liner), it won’t stay put on your waterline, so this is purely for your outer lids. But, if you do like lining along your waterline, use the brush in your favorite cream liner. Kryolan is a professional line though, so you might have to go through Amazon.com or Ebay to obtain it.

Crown brush makes their bent angled brush for $2.25, or you can purchase Sonia Kushuk’s brush at Target for $6.

Wait! Before you throw away all your eyeliner brushes I have a tip for you. You can use them to apply concealer! Since they are so small and skinny it makes a perfect brush to apply concealer only in the small areas where you want it without looking cakey.
