Ahh the red lips conundrum. Would it be over-generalizing to say girls love it way more than guys do? It’s not to everyone’s taste, but to me it will always be a classic. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll probably go bold once in a blue moon, but with the weather getting colder for some reason I find myself even more attracted to a warm rouge. But not just any kind — a deep, matte red that fits right in place during a winter soiree. Or, you know, just because. Right now, I’m using NARS Pure Matte Lipstick in Vesuvio to quench the mood.
If you are trying matte lipstick (and a dark color at that), make sure your lips are properly hydrated…it won’t look quite as pretty on cracked lips! And matte lipstick magnifies every little crevice. I will usually apply a balm first, and then wipe it off with a napkin so there’s a really thin layer before applying the lipstick. But, nothing seems to work better for me than working from the inside out and drinking a ton more water.
To purchase: NARS Pure Matte Lipstick in Vesuvio ($25).
Anyone else finding themselves experimenting with darker shades in the winter?

I want to see this on you! Um, i also want to see YOU!
So, I’m kind of obsessed with bold colors this winter (even though it feels like summers in SD). I recently purchased the perfect super bold red shade for my skin tone, Make-up Forever Moulin Rouge!
Next on the list is Nars 😉 Thanks Shy
Ohh I just checked out Moulin Rouge — exactly the spirit of red I’m talking about…good pick! Motives by Loren Ridinger also has a gorgeous red (not matte, but perf with my skin tone) that I wore for new years last year — “Venetian Red” $14 on their website http://motivescosmetics.marketamerica.com/index.cfm?action=shopping.csProductDetail&groupID=10_CS_USA&cat2ID=USA21127&cat3ID=USA32712&skuID=201ML
