I don’t do this a lot, but I’m actually going to recommend that you don’t come here for the food — maybe for the cold drinks though. The Hong Kong original Saint’s Alp Teahouse in Brooklyn is a funky abode, with red walls and Chinese art hanging on different ends. I stopped by here after seeing Ida Maria and Glasvegas perform nearby (amazing!) on a coldish night a couple weeks ago.
I was super excited to sample their slushes, and ordered a quick bite to go with it — only I could barely finish a bite. And I think that’s about as far as I got with their $3 chicken dumpling and $4 chicken skewers.
I did enjoy my mixed-berry slush, though my friend ordered an arctic mint one that even as a mint-lover, I thought tasted more like toothpaste.
I did like the ambiance enough to give it another shot in the summer…I read that their their bubble tea ($3.15) is actually amazing and it looks like it’d be a fun place to hang out during sunny times. I figure since it does have ‘teahouse’ in the name it’s probably specializing in their drinks anyway — and they do have a long list of them with unique flavors, like taro root, coconut, and grapefruit. But yeah, one of the few times I actually left the rest of my food untouched.
So I’m thinkin’: Even though I loved the ambiance, I’m definitely not going back for the food, and will stop by again for the drinks — only if I’m in the area.
Anyone been there and have better recommendations on the menu?

Do you get to try all these things for free since you blog about them? 🙂
haha I wish! I actually just eat out way too much.
I think you’re a little harsh on the artic mint tea slushee, but you’re right, the food is subpar.
i know i know, this whole post is harsh..but that was my initial reaction! Then again, I did want to get that drink at first. I thought wild berries was better still…def want to try more though like I said!
Tarot tea warm with milk + tapioca = great.
