Serums are generally a lot more potent than creams, and depending on the formulation, may be a little too strong (or too sticky) for the likes of some people. But there’s nothing like a one that actually works, and I finally found one I’m obsessing over: Ole Henriksen’s Truth Serum.
I’ve had people recommend this to me before. One of my friends credits her bright complexion to daily use of the serum. I thought it’d would be clogging to my pores for whatever reason (if I haven’t told you enough times before, my skin can be a little schizo) and never took the bait. Then one day I walked into my apartment and had to stop in my tracks when I saw my roommate. “Your skin is glowing! WHAT are you using??” She told me she got a sample of the same Truth serum from Sephora and it was working for her. We went together the next day to buy the full bottle.
When we got there, we saw that the full bottle is $48, and a “Three Little Wonders” packthat also includes their Invigorating Night Geland Sheer Transformation cream. All together it’s worth $101, but they sell it for $70. I decided to get that along with the Enlighten Me-Pigment Lightening Serumfor dark and uneven spots and began using them immediately.
The serum smells like heaven in a bottle. It’s a little citrusy but not overboard. I’ve been using it in the morning followed by spot treating with the Enlighten serum and Sheer transformation cream, and at night with the gel. I noticed it had helped lighten some blemishes and has really brightened up the surface without causing new zits. After exchanging notes with my roomie though, we figured we could do without the cream and gel. They are good but we felt the serum packs more punch and worth the investment alone. I personally don’t think you necessarily need to get the whole pack of products unless you like the idea of a regimen.
Also, it wins even more points with me for being formulated without parabens or phthalates (certain phthalates in high doses have been shown to change hormone levels and cause birth defects so yes…avoid them when you can!). The serum instead is loaded with vitamin C, a known collagen builder and tissue repairer and bacteria fighting grapefruit.
Ole Henriksen’s Truth Serum is available on www.olehenriksen.com for $48.

so i was waiting to use my sephora points for an awesome gift and when i saw this one featured i jumped on it since the salesperson was raving about it. Literally after 2 days of using it, people noticed a difference and i received several compliments. I personally didn’t notice any difference but hey if others can see the results then this one is a winner! i do crave tangerines right after using it without fail.
my mom has always told me that i should have that “glow”. i’m getting this and for $48 dollars, i’ll never have to hear it again!
do you recommend getting the Enlighten Me-Pigment Lightening Serum, or is the Truth Serum by itself good enough?
Iman, I think it depends on your needs — Truth serum is good for overall, and Enlighten Me is great to spot treat darker spots. I only got a sample of the Enlighten Me because I bought the trio package (for $70) and wanted to see if Enlighten works before I bought. I think if I went back, I would have gotten truth+Enlighten.
i tried murad’s vitamin c serum which costs more but delivered far less. i’m a believer in this truth serum! not only does it add a glow it gives this airbrushed look. well, it does on shahla. i’m still getting there 🙂
hmm, i’ve had a different experience with ole. i used the three little wonders pack last year and then just the serum alone but got bumpy skin. had to throw it out. i’ve been using skyn products since and am in L-O-V-E. skyn + grapeseed oil, of course.
