Antique Cafe in Flatiron

Yesterday, I used my first Groupon ever ever (of course it was on food). They had a deal to get $20 worth of food for $10 at Antique Cafe and I thought it’d be a good excuse to check out a new place for brunch with a fellow foodie (Archana of LettuceVeg.com).

The small cafe is enclosed in a little gated area with ample room to sit outside on benches. I’m sure once the weather gets nice, there will be people all over the place. I was pretty impressed with the cozy, buzzy ambiance. We were seated at a small table in a sun-drenched corner. We shared a stuffed omelette with cheddar cheese and mushrooms and baked french toast with strawberries.

They were both pretty light. The omelette was good but nothing different. The baked french toast said it would be topped with carmelized strawberries, but it just seemed like regular ones to me. I also had a chai latte (forgot to take a pic!), but it was sweet and tasty. Overall, I think it’s a cute place to stop by for tea or coffee (especially at the small coffee bar area) but I’ve definitely had more exciting brunches in the city. At least I got a good deal…can’t complain about that!
