One of the perks of covering the IIFA Awards was being able to get my makeup done by the talented MAC artists in the makeup lounge set up at the Royal York hotel. On Awards day, I was planning on using the blue “Siahi” Fluidline from Mickey Contractor’s collection that I had just gotten from their Bloor Street store (the collection is no longer available, but they re-issued it just for the weekend in Canada…I would have been crazy not to pick it up!).
This particular eyeliner pot is a highly pigmented gorgeous jewel-toned sea blue with a tinge of teal that’s just so hard not to stare at. I had totally forgotten that I would be getting my makeup done so I thought I’d had to save it for another occasion. Coincidentally, Sarika, a New Zealand-based M.A.C. makeup artist whose chair I ended up sitting in that day, was on the same page. She suggested we do a bold eye with just a touch of shadow and keep everything else fairly simple (light lip, just a little bit of cheeks), and my eyes lit up when she pulled out Siahi from her makeup kit.
To get this look, Sarika used:
2) The #209 Liner brush to apply the Siahi Fluidline on the upper and lower lids.
3) She smudged the top line slightly using the #228 mini shader brush
4) Defined the top line further with Blacktrack Fluidline just in the middle of the lid
4) Finished with Zoom mascara and lashes
Here’s a video of Sarika doing my eye makeup, which might help to watch if you’re trying to do something similar:

I love this makeup because it’s a nice change from the usual black liner, and can work for almost any evening function. What do you think? Would you try it at home?
